Hailed as the new “Mom and Pop Darling” on the music scene, Karyna Micaela’s original roots lie in California where she earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz voice from San Jose State University. After finishing school, Karyna aspired for a new adventure and soon arrived in artsy Denton. With an eclectic collection of musical influences, including Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Joel, punchy lyrics, a strong vocal range and retro personality, Karyna began establishing her name, booking venues all over the Dallas area including Opening Bell Coffee, Dan’s Silverleaf and Live at Mokah. She has also performed at local events including the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Taste of Addison and ArtLoveMagic’s Girl Show 2011.
With a pocket full of dreams and piano keys, Karyna is currently working on her first full length album, set to be released in 2012. When she isn’t writing new tunes or jamming out with friends, Karyna enjoys sips and bites at local digs in Denton. You can find her munching on the Alaska roll at Mr. Chopsticks or enjoying a cup of tea at Jupiter House. You may also catch her on occasion at Bone Doggie’s open mic night at Banter.
